Dead of the week 23 - our own bloody corpses!

Every series has its end and this is the final picture of the famous Dead of the week series!
I hope you all enjoyed it - at least I had a lot of fun collecting deads all over the place and as you see, Hilary and I had a blast being dead. In this spirit: deadly greetings!

All Souls Procession - Flem Chen´s fire-blast

All Souls Procession III

All Souls Procession II

Day of the Dead - All Souls Procession

As you can see - this event was made for me - deads all over the place, celebrating life and death in the most creative, colorful way I've ever seen! AWSOME!!! Hilary and I went to the procession with the hiking meetup group and dressed up in our backyard before we met the others downtown on 4th Avenue from where the whole thing started...

At Epic Cafe with the Tucson Nightriders

Voila: James and Hilary at Epic Cafe with an enormous tuna-sandwich...
The Tucson Nightriders are a bunch of funny people who ride their bikes every Saturday night while listening to music coming out of Jams's backpack. They ride down to 4th Avenue, have a snack at Epic and then play glow-in-the-dark-frisbee in a nearby park. Isn't that cool?

Agua Caliente II

Agua Caliente-hike with the Ramblers

This was my farewell-hike with the ramblers and although we didn't see much water, we pretty much saw everything else: A beautiful black-tailed rattlesnake, a giant gilamonster and an encredibly cute Gartnersnake which I pulled out of a crack in a rock - amazing!!!!

visiting Tante Maria and Onkel Kurt in Phoenix

Here you can see Hans-Dieter, Tante Maria, Patzi and Onkel Kurt. The picture beneath it shows Onkel Kurt who's taking his pretty cat Putzi for a walk in the backyard.
"Fence" made from glass and clay at the Herd-museum (Museum of Native American history & culture) - an awsome place!!!

Halloween-hike

See - I was a tree and felt very earthy. Man, that's maybe the only thing I miss here in Tucson - real forest!!! So I thought, well, if there's no forest for me here, I just have to be the forest myself. And I think, it turned out pretty well! Hilary went as a greek muse. The others were cats, Rastamen, phantoms and Veronica was some kind of grandma-nerd:)

On Halloween, we hiked up Tumamoc hill with the Tucson hiking meetup group and had dinner at the Cup (Hotel Congress) afterwards.

Dead of the week 22 - Western Diamondback Rattlesnake

We found this extremely flad dead on the road in Sedona - but since it's such an esoteric place, I bet more than one heaven will fight for its little soul...

red rocks and psychic reading

This shop creeped me out a bit - Crystal Castle is a bizarre mixture of wanna-be-spiritual-accessoires and kitsch. Weeeiirrrrd!
We hiked a couple of hours to see - well, I should say feel the vortexes around this highly esoteric place. But we weren't the only ones - Barbietours were on their way to the miraculous energy-swirls, too...
But apart from the vortexes, there are also great trails, beautiful red rocks and even real trees in Sedona. And I even got my swim at last aaand we saw a big fat skunk which (thank god!) didn't spray us!

Sedonaaaa....

I made a flying dolphin from the babybel-wax and was hoping to melt it in the sun, but it somehow didn't happen...

Sedona!

Aren't the clifdwellings great? Native people used them as calendars to know when they had to plant and harvest their crops (usually corn, beans, squash) and connection to the spiritual world and maybe many other reasons.

Camping in the desert??! Yes, it is possible! You just need a lot of water, warm clothes for the night and maybe 3 oranges to juggle with in the morning...
