red fox invasion

A week after we came back from Scottland, I drove down to Hessen again to team the funniest, wildest, most insomniac course of the year: Abenteuer Rotfuchs (red fox adventure). Our team consisted of Marlon, Hanna, Lukas, Anke and me. Our task: to get 19 wild little red foxes under controll and play through the life cycle of a red fox - beginning from its birth up to the scent-marking of its own territory and the search for a suitable mate. But no more talking - see for yourself...

hasta la vista, Cairngorm mountains!

After almost three weeks in the wild, the three groups met again and spent a day together in Edinbourgh, before we all travelled back to Germany. As always, it´s hard to leave the mountains behind and surrender the freedom of deciding spontaneously where to go and how long to stay at a place. The kids were so much fun and I´m looking forward to our next big trip - in 2009 it will lead us to the moonlike fjell of Hardangervidda, Norway.

let mud rule - episode III

poor other groups... oh, and thanks to Annemarie for the pictures!!!

let mud rule - episode II

let mud rule - episode I

We found mud... any more questions?

let craziness rule! Episode two - princesses, queens and beasts

The models: Annemarie, Felix and Svenja, the dwarf princess

let craziness rule! Episode one - blueberry vampires

We found blueberries... that should be enough of an explanation:)

midge invasion

Hiking in the mountains has a huge advantage over hiking in the valley - the midges literally eat you alive as soon as you reach the first trees and shrubs. I don´t know how many proteins we inhaled at this tarp place, but I guess that the midges could easily have replaced a full meal. Above you can see Falk, Flo and Jana - still looking happy because at this point they had no idea that a whole army of midges would invade our camp only a couple of hours later...

ascent from Loch Avon to Coire Raibert (1082m)

Loch Avon is said to be the prettiest lake in Stottland. Unfortunately, we had a very long day etap ahead of us, so we didn´t have the time for a swim. But the view was gorgeous and the ascent to Coire Raibert was the best of the whole tour. It lead us along an amazing waterfall and was really, really steep.

evening hike to Beinn Mheadhoin

Beinn Mheadhoin lies just opposite to Ben Macdui, but it is much more beautiful - Falk, Jana, Annemarie, Lukas & me hiked there after we came back from our Ben Macdui trip.

weird weather witches

on top of Ben Macdui

Ben Macdui is the highest mountain in the Cairngorms and also the second highest mountain of the Scottish Highlands (after Ben Nevis). But I still think that a mountain with 1309 metres is more a hill than a mountain... but anyway - it was a nice & easy ascent, we had our fun at the snow field and Jana looks very happy:)

on our way to Ben Macdui

Yeah! this snow field was SO MUCH FUN!!!!!

Dead of the week 27 - withered frog

in the valley of peace

Svenja, the dwarf princess and Annemarie are doing their laundry in the "valley of peace" as they named this spot.

Scottish wildlife - Vipera berus

Isn´t this little adder cute???! We found it right on the path that we were hiking along.

prayers to the mountain god

While Lukas and I were fooling around, Felix kept strengthening his Shia-cult. He had allready managed to convince David and Annemarie, which wasn´t an easy task. Now he started working on a book with proofs of his god´s existence - and believe me, he has tons of them. Wanna hear some? Okay: We wanted it to stop raining and Shia made it stop raining. We asked Shia for making the other hikers leave our designated camping place and they left. Shia made Annemaries spoon disappear because she didn´t believe in him, but then she apologized and he gave her a new spoon. You see, the mountain air didnn´t always do us well... but anyway, the Shia-statues are really cute, so to hell with all the unbelievers!:)

good night, wild guys!

How cozy the sleeping bags feel after that cold water bath!

time to take a bath!
