On the first evening we hiked into the area where we planned to search for a nice site for our igloo-village. Christian was pretty worried when he saw the temperature falling lower and lower and claimed that we should not drive further if the car themometer says anything below -15°C. Well, his proposal couldn´t get respected and we all had to rely on the good quality of our sleeping bags and willingness of our companions to cuddle up to each other if it gets too cold!
Welcome to the most awesome, funny and breathtaking NAJU-wildlife-event ever: Wintercamp in Grövelsjön/ Langfjället; a plateau near Idre, right on the Swedish/Norvegian border. We were eight winter-loving outdoor people who have always wanted to build igloos and snow caverns and live in them. Well - I didn´t post anything for a while now, but let´s continue with our pre-New-Year´s-Eve-hike in the Sächsische Schweiz... It was freezing cold, but sunny at the same time, so we really had a blast!
Oh hell, was it cold! Well, we had about -12°C during the night and after having cooked our meals, we had to eat up really quick - otherwise we would have had to eat frozen pasta ice for dinner. But there is nothing greater than waking up in nature on a rock under a tree with all the birds singing their morning songs and greeting the sunlight!
My brother, sister and I met a week before Christmas to continue our CD project that we had started a year earlier. The idea was to create an individual Christmas present for our parents & grandparents and by the way have a lot of fun together since it´s very rare that the three of us meet and share time together. Noi and I had a great time singing half-purely into the microphone. Mac spent hours afterwards to arrange the music and purify our vocals...
Since this was my only free weekend available, Julia and I went hiking in the Rhön on a beautiful mid-December-weekend. I don´t exactly know why, but we were strangely surprised by the amount of snow that fell down on us... .The first night was comparatively warm, but the second night was so cold, that after having bulit up our tarp in the deep snow, Julia and I warmed up a bit in the little restaurant that is located at the Milseburg - and it was really worth it: 2 elderly men played the guitar and the accordion, everybody sang along and we hat hot lentil soup for supper!
Being out in the forest and go hiking is a kind of elixir for Julia and me, so even snow can´t keep us at home. The Rhön is a beautiful place to hike; even in winter - as long as you don´t forget to bring your your long woolen underpants...:)
