lampshade project

Thought of the desert and missed it again... so I painted three hummingbirds on Luki´s lampshade (he gave all his lampshades to friends who paint something on them to turn his room in a more colorful place) and thought of all the hummingbirds I could observe in the Tucson Botanical Gardens as well as out in the desert which I miss so much:(

Christmas cookie baking 2008

In the end of November, Tina, Katja and me met for a christmas-cookie-handicraft-movie-watching-weekend. And we were veeery productive - see?!

Hanna, me & Karl-Gustav

In 2008, Hanna spent 4 month in Berlin, so we had the chance to meet regularly for dinner, theater outings or snake-handling sessions:). Now that she has finished her training as a paramedic, she decided to study philosophy in Marburg rather than getting involved in the tough machinery of hospitals and human medicine... veeery wise decision, Hanna!!!!

in Mainz

I don´t see my family very often, so I was very happy to spend a whole day in Mainz with my mum. She had a little market stand ther with her nutrition-people and I helped her selling healthy fast food. That way I also met my little brother whom I also meet very rarely - and as you can see - also a kitten which was visiting my family at that time.

Elisabeth prepared a delicious birthday cake, while Milli was watching her sceptically and Nele dressed up as an umpah-lumpa:)

Karl-Gustav arrived!!!

And here he is: Karl-Gustav, my new corn snake! Isn´t he the most beautiful snake in the world???! I´m so proud of him!

The terrarium for my cornsnake arrived. While I´m still waiting for warmer weather so that he can be shipped to me from southern Germany, I decided to use that time to paint the terrarium and prepare everything for my snake´s move-in.

bye-bye Hilarissima!

Bye, Hilary!!! After a last night-hike in Sabino Canyon with Hilary and Christoper, Katja and I rented a big white car and took off for new, exciting adventures. The only plan was to go to San Diego first; then we planned to drift wherever places our luck would take us! Seems like a great plan, huh?

Hilaaaa and her dentist-barbie - it can say "Great checkup!" and "Let´s brush!"
- isn´t it totally cool:)?

But to Hilary´s defence I should mention that she didn´t buy the barbie herself - she used to work as an dental assistant ant got it as a gift from her colleagues when she left her job.

Simba the explorer

Although Simba stayed at home, he still had some thrilling moments:
- he caught a bug which was hiding behind the sofa
- he managed to win the footrace against his brother into Hilary's room
- he chased a pretty nasty pen through the living room until it gave up

My little barrel cactus is beautiful! This bee is literarily drowning into its flower to collect pollen.

Mr. Barber had a hard time reading the rock&pop-trivial pursuit questions in English. And we didn't make it easier for him:)

4th of July - fireworks

We also attended the fireworks sitting on the roof. I't quite hard to capture it, but here you can get a bit of an impression how beautiful it was.

Das Warten auf dem Dach hat sich also gelohnt! Der Himmel erglueht in allen nur erdenklichen Rot- und Gelbtoenen, bricht auf, beginnt zu rumoren und grummeln. Ploetzlich faengt der Wind wie irre an zu wehen, es riecht nach Sand und die Luft wird schwuel. Kurze Zeit spaeter entlaedt sich ein gigantisches Gewitterspektakel und endlich, endlich erreichen die ersten Regentropfen den ausgedoerrten Wuestenboden.

This is one of the biggest advantages of my new home: you can climb up the roof in the evenings and watch the amazing sunsets, thunderstorms and rainfalls. This is life!

Raja & Simba

I proudly present: my new roommates, Raja (front) and Simba (back). They are Himalayans and therefore royalty. That's at least what they seem to beleive:)
