following the tracks

While we searched for the ultimately perfect campsite for the next week, we came across many droppings and footprints that we tried to identify & follow. The track above might be a marten´s; the one to the left is most likely a wolve´s. How exciting!!!
I´ve never seen more tracks in my whole life than here in the Beskid Nieski in Poland. Seems as if we detected the busiest wildlife-highway ever!

hó, hó, jaj de jó

Yey, snow! At least it´s enough to build miniature sculptures out of it! - Although we really really hoped that we could finally practice building igloos and snow-burrows. Instead, the snow melt after 4 days and left us only mud...
But that didn´t matter, we still had a lot of fun searching for tracks, preparing food in completely new ways (which sometimes resulted in exploding eggs and burnt venison), singing, chipping tons and tons of wood and taking nature in in every possible way.

I didnt even know how much I missed the snow...

On the picture on top: me, Julia and Katja (left to right). Beneath it: Julia and the forest. Trees are great:) And thereunder: Marcus, Katja, Dirk, Heidi, Seppel and Markus (I always mix up the first and the last one, Im soooorry!)

On tour with the wild guys - wintercamp in Poland

Yeah! 10 days in the forest somewhere out in the wild plus nine other outdoor-lovers. I missed the wild terribly, so I´m happy, happy, happy!
The place we´re going to is located about four hours away from Krakow by car in the forests of the Beskid Niski near the Ucranian border. Bears, wolves, deer, foxes, martens, hares and many, many bird species inhabit the area - and we are here to follow their tracks...

jodeldihihoo

To satisfy all clichés of this strange country of mine: these are supposed to be real Germans, dancing "Schuhplattler" in Lederhosen and Dirndls. I bet Andrew would have been thrilled to watch their performance!

Arni´s apples

Apples from Arnold Schwarzenegger´s hometown must be dipped in gold - at least their price of 1 Euro per piece suggests that.
But luckily the "Green Week", a huge food fair held anually in Berlin, has more to offer. Katja, Tina and I went there to try loads of foreign cheeses, take part in a quiz about fruits and cuddle corn snakes (see above), praying mantises and the dogs in the rescue dog unit.

Fips the Hamster

May I introduce you to Milli´s tiny pet? It´s Fips, the Hamster. Fips is the cutest little creature ever, he eats as if he had only one day left of his little life and runs like a steamroller on speed. He´s simply gorgeous! Here you can see how Mister Barber & Nele try to win his little heart - with food, of course....

DAGEGEN

It´s always good to be against something, isn´t it? So Marie and I are protesting against all protesters, especially in sushi restaurants. And against the weirdest bathroom ever, that gave me a shock cause when I looked in the mirror, I saw Seppel (this shouldn´t be taken as an insult, Seppel, really...). And, by the way: Katja and Martin experienced the same thing, I guess.

art meets chaos

Seppel, Martin and me also went to see some museums, get a cultural shock and introduce the museum attendants to our kind of art. For example a postmodern interpretation of "Seppel´s red jacket hanging next to some really meaningful grey stuff" on the left and above the neo-classizistic performance "2 tired people in the New National Galery". The full catalogue can be orderd at the artist´s office.

Berlin meets Seppel & Martin II - a desperate attempt to climb the wall

Reichstag in winter - isn´t it beautiful? And do you recognize those illuminated figures guarding the christmas tree:)?

Oh happy snowpeople

We didn´t get much snow this winter, but it seems to be enough for Martin who found the snow-women of his dreams in the park between Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag. I wish them a happy future at -10°C...:)
Our culture-trip took Seppel, Martin and me from Prenzlauer Berg to Mitte, where we took happy pictures with all the big fat monuments and statues that are commonly found in bigger cities, ate ice-cream at a shop I still know as "Australian" and a huge chai latte at Starbucks at Hackescher Markt, had a look at the pooping plasticchicken in the Edelramsch-shop & a smell at the breathtaking soap-stuff at Lush.

Berlin meets Seppel & Martin I

That´s what happens if you try to give two nature freaks a guided tour through Berlin...

ventilated shoes

This is the evidence that Mister Barber´s shoes are falling apart and that therefore he had absolutely no right to keep nagging about Luki´s and Alvine´s - äääh, I mean Almut´s decayes shoes for a whole week. What an impertinence:)!
Apart from examining ruinous shoes, we watched movies with our new video projector and Seppel, Luki, Martin and John se German from Tucson, who came to visit as well, went to the sauna, where people presumed that we are a group of partying Swabians...

racelette at New Year´s Eve

More food, more people! From left to right: Martin, Seppel, Lukas, Almuth, Mister Barber, Elisabeth and Marie. Yummmie, that was a hell lot of food! And the circle of my chaotic but absolutely great visitors is still incomplete...

Lucky Luki

Seems like a normal situation for strange little hackers like Lukas - but I just thought it looks hilarious, Luki diving into the innards of Mister Barber´s computer while he´s holding the flashlight; slightly bored and obviously not very concerned about his PC´s health. Whatever - a scene from my everyday life:)

dinner à la Valentin

I drove back to Berlin after visiting my family for Chritmas and definitely didn´t expect so many people in our kitchen - Valentin, who was my interim tenant during my stay in Tucson, prepared dinner for all of us and even tried to seve it. My friends Marie, Lukas and Almuth were there (a lot of people visited me around New Year´s Eve); as well as Toralf, Mister Barber, Elisabeth and of course, Valentin and his girlfriend.

Who´s afraid of our chorus invasion?

There´s another tradition on christmas meetings, that I almost forgot: the singing. Loved by us and probably hated by most of Stangenrod´s burgeois inhabitants. Well, I must admit - to their defense - some of us are pretty good at singing loud, but not exactly so very good in singing in tune. For us it doesn´t matter. Here are Hendrik, Lisa and the whole choir, followed by Julia, who danced to entertain Samuel, Mechthilds little son.

NAJU-Christmas-meeting

Back in the arms of these weird wild hiking forestlovers:) From the top to the bottom: I missed fighting with Julia!!! Then: Miro and Verena during the meal-preparations for about 30 people. Aaannnnd: Seppel, Berthold, Katja and Julia - on a walk and on a tree:).
The christmas-meetings usually consist of eating, playing strange games in the forest (we´re all in the drug-business now...), going to the sauna, eating again, fighting carterpillar-fights in our sleepingbags, cutting and decorating a christmas-tree and more sauna, eating and massage-sessions. Sounds good, huh??!

an back in barbercity!

I´m back in the city of punk and chaos, of culture and subculture, of pomp and fith - and, of course, in the circles of my tall and tiny roommates. Here they are: Milli Meta, Nele and Nina. I guess Mister Barber ran out of the picture...
The picture in the background was painted by Christian Huth, a friend of the Barber´s and a really nice guy.

winterwonderland II

How much I missed my little doggy!

winterwonderland I

My sister Noemi, Idefix and I went on a winter stroll through Liederbach and discovered so many beautifully frozen leaves, spidewebs and twigs. We felt like walking through a winter fairytale...

family convention

Okay. Finally - 3 month later - I managed to upload some more pictures! Here´s my very dear aunt Sigrid, my brother Marcell with his girlfriend Alla, and me, my mum, my sister Noemi and my cousin Janina. Good to see them all again!!!!
